Practical Nurse Education Advocacy

We support the role of the Practical Nurse throughout their education and work experience. The Practical Nurse is an essential part of the health care team. The Pennsylvania State Board is supportive of this role and the necessary education these individuals need to perform their duties. Our program successes in graduating these individuals and providing them the knowledge to achieve licensure in Pennsylvania is of utmost importance to our organization and community stakeholders.

PA State Board Meeting

We attend State Board meetings both in person and online to provide input into Regulatory changes proposed by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing. We also collect data from our programs and provide this input to the Pennsylvania State Board.

Long Term Care Facility Regulations

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are employed in many health care facilities. They work in Acute care, Home care, Hospice care, Physician offices and clinics, Urgent care centers, Psychiatric hospitals/centers, Schools, Private duty, Insurance agencies, in addition to others not mentioned here. However approximately 50% of the LPNs in PA work in Long Term Care (LTC) facilities with our geriatric population.

Nurse EducatORS

We support our peers and professionals in the field who strive to be good stewards of Nursing Education. One person who continues to make a difference in the state of Pennsylvania is Dr. Sue Petula. Dr. Petula served the Pennsylvania State Board for many years in support of Nursing Education programs. We acknowledged her with a letter of support.

Nurse Educators

PA-PNA advocates for Nursing Educators. There is a Spring Conference held every May to support our Member Faculty with continuing education hours and trainings. During this conference we encourage best practices pedagogy presentations to share ideas and recognize those presenting. PA-PNA also recognizes the Nurse Educator of the Year during this conference.
